Evrae was born in the elvan capital city of Haillaja. His parents were both elvan. His mother died giving birth to him. The people of the city took that, and the fact that he's the only dark elf on the planet, as a bad omen. Evrae's drifted from city to city with his father for ten years until his father decided to leave him in the Human city of Khalm. Evrae believes his father would return for him one day and has spent the past 5 years of his life in Khalm waiting.

Quin is a form of rabbit creature that befriended Evrae when he was 12. He's a coward but can be a good friend.

Laul is the blacksmith of Khalm. His skills are bad and was about to go out of business when he came across Evrae's smithing talent. He was murdered by the nameless elf.

Marca was killed by 'the elf in the top hat' after leaving the Rebirth of Blades in Laul's shop.

 This nameless elf is hell-bent on collecting Rebirths and will kill anyone who gets in his way

 Trowa seems to want to help Quin and Evrae, for whatever reason. He uses the Rebirth of Invisibility and has extensive knowledge of them. Apparently he's the twin brother of Marca.
